Pakistan National Dialogue
What do young Pakistanis want from their country? A Showra demo built on a real 2021 nationwide youth consultation.
A Showra demo built on real data: what more than 15,000 people, mostly young Pakistanis, said they wanted for their country in spring 2021. The statements and votes did not come from Showra. They come from a real Polis-style conversation, imported here so visitors can explore what a structured national dialogue looks like. You can still vote and add your own statements. Your votes count alongside the original ones.
The original conversation
In early 2021 the Government of Pakistan set out to learn what young people needed and what was holding them back. The effort led up to a national policy dialogue on youth employment, convened by the Planning Commission and the United Nations on 28 April 2021. This Pol.is conversation was part of that consultation. It opened in January 2021, and most people took part in April and May.
The organisers started with a few statements on education, healthcare and taxes, and participants added their own. Their concerns ranged from a single national curriculum and outdated university syllabi to jobs after graduation, the cost of education, how the country is governed, and life during the COVID-19 pandemic.
- 15,708 people voted, and 5,736 of them wrote statements
- 9,034 statements were submitted, and moderators approved 157 for voting
- The original Pol.is analysis found 5 opinion groups
Statements appear in their original English, as participants wrote them.
What you're looking at
Showra runs its own analysis on the original votes. It finds opinion groups, shows where people agree and disagree, and summarises topics. Its results can differ from the original Pol.is report.
Source data
The data was gathered with the Polis software (compdemocracy.org/polis). The original conversation is pol.is/69hm3zfanb. It was embedded on the organisers' own site and can't be viewed publicly on pol.is.
